I was always told that tattoos need to heal naturally, so do not need any
kind of antibiotic ointment on them. Something about the ointment can pull
the ink out since it's supposed to clean it or whatever. So I do a search:
"triple antibiotic ointment" tattoo" and what comes up? Almost every single
link says to use antibiotic ointment on a new tattoo. Out of the many, many
tattoo websites, I found ONE that did not recommend using the ointment. I
gave up after awhile because I had other things to do. There are even
several bme pages I found recommending the use of it.

I did use A&D(without zinc) if the itching got too bad but not antibiotic
anything. Lotion is bad for my skin but A&D doesn't bother it so I've always
used it when my hands are dry in the winter. I have never had problems with
my tattoos healing.
