You're very welcome, Soprano.
Hey, I mentioned elsewhere in this newsgroup, somethingsomething, "You
really can make money is such a wide variety of ways," but what I
meant to type was IN such a wide variety of ways. Duh.
Regardless of my typo, you certainly can make a living from art.
I'm an art teacher by profession. I've also earned paychecks as a
caricature artist for a local agency that hired out face painters,
magicians, cartoonists, etc. There have been proms and post proms as
well where I'd do caricatures of the students - parents would pay me a
fixed hourly rate and then I'd draw caricatures for a set number of
hours. How else have I earned money from art? Hmmm. I've painted at
least one sign on the wall for a local locksmith. That was about 20
years ago and it's been painted over since, but, hey, it was some
bucks. I also taught watercolor and drawing at the local arts learning
center. I've always made money from art in some way.
Anyway, congratulations to you on becoming a professional artist. A
passion for art is something you can always pursue whether you make
money from it or not.
