Any real newsreader will quote with attribution. It's been common and
standard since the first incarnation of rn, and is an absolute
requirement in GNKSA (good net-keeping seal of approval), in line item
10, as seen in
http://www.gnksa.org/gnksa.txt:
| ...the quoted
| text MUST be preceded by an "attribution line" identifying the author of
| the text that is being quoted.
This is to say, proper quotation attribution has been a standard feature
for all conforming newsreaders for roughly 2 decades.
There is a reason why GNKSA came into existence. It's because so many
idiot programmers are out there, writing crap code without any respect
for standards, or even baseline capability.
