Mulling over the words (elsewhere in this newsgroup), something like...
I will never understand the possible benefits of premature mortality (for those types who think God has a reason for taking our loved ones... Incomprehension is obviously the typical state of the overwhelming majority of people on this planet. Unrelated to anyone in particular, I was recently thinking that we're all basically bugs. Those thoughts had nothing at all to do with the idea of an unfair (espcially as that term may relate to possible benefits or justification of) death but, rather, popped into my mind while commuting. Eighteen wheelers are unforgiving. Motorists get sideswiped by, get rear-ended (run over) by, and ineffectively attempt (unintentionally, I suspect) to run over eighteen wheelers (and, yeah, other vehicles). I considered the extreme fragility of human beings as one of those big rigs passed by my car. Months ago, while driving with a friend, I saw a truck tire blow out. That's an explosion. One of those by your driver's side window would be unpleasant at best and fatal is definitely in the realm of possibility wrt inhaling a blowout. It doesn't take much to stop a pulse. To end a life. Sad, but true. So, big - some would have you believe with the ability to... reason - bugs with the power (or weakness dependent on your perspective) to vocally, more accurately, /with words/ lament their eventual fate and the fate of others. People are fragile in more ways than in their mortality. Some possible benefits of a premature death? a) There's got to be a reason someone coined the expression (truncated), "die young, leave a good looking corpse." a.k.a. immortality in a sense. b) Science fiction. Observe that the absence of a hypothetical/imaginary premature death of an innocent could have inspired some diabolical action on the part of some perhaps murderous oaf, however Fate intervenes on the behalf of said murderous oaf. Rather than ending the life of the m.o., the innocent must die. Why? Because the murderous oaf's offspring will eventually find a cure for cancer, etc., etc. c) An individual has bone cancer. Instead of death as its result, the individual dies of an auto accident prior to the onset of cancerous pain. d) And, yes, some have uttered the perhaps idiotic words, "God needed them more than us." Perhaps more interesting than any of that, Google search string "difference between man and animal" offered the following link (and others, of course): http://www.simpletoremember.com/grow..._Champions.htm Hth. -- Curt |
