Hi. I got my ears pierced seemingly a million years ago as an early teen.
Well decades later... yesterday I got my belly pierced. It looks fantastic. There is a tiny red area around the piercing. There is a teeny bit of blue from the mark the piercer made. But it looks ok. The care instructions I received was to wash it 3 to 4 times a day. I don't really know how to go about washing it except to hop in the shower. But that is not something that is easy for me to do more than 2 times per day. I don't want to wash it with a washcloth. I also have a spray can of ... purified sea water ... so saline to spray. The piercing dude said I can't use it too much. The can says it is the most effective way to get rid of the crusty goo that will form. So I am spraying it on a lot. My question is, I guess, when am I likely to start seeing goo oozing? And how long do I continue the washing three times a day and spraying the saline on? Ihave this image that my piercing is never going to get gooey. But that is probably unlikely. I may call the guy who did the piercing for the official answer. He told me I would probaly forget everything he said since I was a tad lightheaded after he did it. And to feel free to call with questions. But if you kind folk were willing to give your opinions and reassure this really big WEENY. Oh other question, the aftercare instruction sheet says don't play with it. Friends who have had it done said to rotate the ring so the ring does not stick. I don't really want to be doing that for a day or two. Cuz... did I mention I am being a total weeny? I shouldn't be. It doesn't hurt at all. It is just kinda squicky. Thanks for listening. I have this interest in piercing all of the sudden but if I am a weeny about the white bread of body piercing, I may choose to stop here! |

Sluice! I love that word. > Thanks for listening. I have this interest in piercing all of the sudden but > if I am a weeny about the white bread of body piercing, I may choose to stop > here! Best of luck with your healing. Post a follow-up. -- Curt |

It's all about the correct word in the RAB village. There's a movement to rename the group alt.nitpick.usage. Be on the lookout for stretch versus gauge and tattoo versus tat. So I hope you can tolerate my being the village idiot all-ya'all until I pick up the lingo. |
