So about five-six months ago I pierced my left helix twice. I pierced
them myself, but I did it right (with a set of sterile needles). They seem to be healing nicely, but I'm not sure about two things. Every once in a while, my ear will become red and irritated and swollen. It never stays that way for more than fifteen minutes, but "red, irritated and swollen" sounds like infection to me, so I just want to double check. The other thing is that the crusties that I pull off the rings smell different than they did a month ago, kind of fishy/cheesy smelling, it's hard to describe. I still clean my ear every night, and I can change earrings with no problems or blood or puss, so I guess I'm just wondering if this is normal or if I should be seeing a doctor about an infection. Thanks! `Eric |

You can make your own mixing 1/4 teaspoon non-iodized sea salt into 8 oz warm water. (I suggest distilled H2O). Lately I have been using H2Ocean Aftercare spray with HUGE success. I usually don't recommend "product", but I have seen this stuff heal burns in record time and I have had a lot less complications with my own piercings and the piercings I do at the shop using this product. Hope that helps! Karla "Pinky" Grimes http://www.no-regrets-tattoos.com |
