So I have had my ears at 4g for the last month or so, no problems.
This past weekend I was at a shop and they had some real cool ebony wood plug type swirls. When I put them in there was no problems at all went in without a problem, but now when I am trying to take them out - I can barely budge them - WTF Happpened? Thanks for any advice..... |

A healed stretch? > Thanks for any advice..... You wouldn't happen to have a subscription to the Journal of Emergency Nursing, would you? Never mind. Y'knooow, you'd think that the following link might provide some insight: http://www.organicjewelry.com/woodhazards.html Funny thing is, though, their advice includes: "IF YOU THINK YOU ARE HAVING A REACTION TO WOOD, REMOVE THE ITEM AND SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY" Duh. If you could "REMOVE THE ITEM" then you wouldn't have much of a problem, right? Anyway, if you're not having an allergic reaction and the plug hasn't "swoled up" like a sponge somehow then I'd simply jump in the shower and soap it up and pray that it'll slip out. If that doesn't work then contact a carpenter. Dremel much? i KEED! Seriously, contact your piercer. Best of luck. -- Curt |

"I typically don't use the term gauge as a synonym for stretch however, unlike your turd-in-the-punch-bowl self, I have no problem with those who do." Or something like that. > See, you'll admit there are bad tattoos before long . . . Don't hold your breath. There are tattoos that you like or don't like based on personal preference. You might call it bad, so what? There's someone, undoubtedly, who will love that very same tattoo. Hence, no bad tattoos. HENCE! Sweet. Get thee hence! Oh, I'm kidding. Enjoy your whatever it is you're doing. -- Curt |

Heh. Brandon: Relax. Were you wearing heavier jewelry before? Your earlobe has pulled tight around the jewelry, and/or the wood has absorbed your skin's natural oils so your skin is dried out. Ebony hís very dense with a smooth surface (if you bought quality jewelry), so don't worry, it will not embed yourself into your earlobe. Whatever you do, don't try to just pull it free forcefully, although some gentle tugging is allowed after you've put lots of oil (olive, almond, any salad oil... better than baby oil) on your earlobe and whatever amount of plug surface you can reach, and massaged it in some. Wait overnight, if necessary. Repeat. Then try again. Keep wooden plugs well oiled to avoid this! Nina -- C'est les microbes qui auront le dernier mot. Louis Pasteur http://www.chaotropic.net |

This is not really a problem for a well healed stretched lobe, but it can ruin the jewelry. At the very least, it will make it dull. Inlays can fall out, etc. Nina -- C'est les microbes qui auront le dernier mot. Louis Pasteur http://www.chaotropic.net |

Otherwise, they might be in the shower riiiiight now, flailing around under the weight of a pair of plugs holding, what, well, even one gallon of water would be rather uncomfortable. -- Curt |
