I am the newbie that posted a while ago about my navel peircing. I am now
reading the FAQ as I am considering another piercing elsewhere. (Midlife crisis? Who knows.) I am reading the FAQ on navel piercings and ... all the information here makes sense. The piercer that I spoke with, another piercer in a nearby town I asked (to see if the story I got made sense) and the website of the muckedy muck piercers of america all have 6 months to 18 months as the healing time for navel piercing. And I guess it irritates me to know that an experienced person such as lish (I presume you wrote this, apoloies to the person/people I am offending if I am wrong) I could have a shorter less risky peircing. The healing is going well enough. Nothign scary has happened to this point. So I will leave it alone. It does not appear that I have jewelery that is too small anyway. That sounds nasty. So, aside from reading the FAQ on nipple piercing again (and again) and better understanding what the heck is going on, how to I choose a piercer who has a clue? I almost feel like I could hand the FAQ to someone and say Do That. But I would really prefer someone I thought was GOOD. Thanks for your help. Stephanie |

The healing is going well enough. Nothign scary has happened i wrote MY texts, all linked at http://compunction.org . i did NOT write the rec.arts.bodyart faqs, & i don't agree with sizeable portions of them. following my healing text, you will probably heal faster. my first navel piercing, when i was seventeen, took 13 months to heal. my second & third navel piercings (in addition to the first, not in replacement of), self-done at age twenty-one, took only about 5-6 months each because i'd learned how the body works in that time & followed the instructions i eventually wrote out for the rest of you. pics of these are also at the above website. I will do my reading! I am curious why such misinformation is so prevelant. But ...
