Hi,
i just got my first tattoo, about 3 lines of text on my stomach about a week ago. it is starting to peel and i knew that it would do that..but i have noticed some of the lines on the letters are getting thicker, kind of like the ink is spreading a bit. is this normal and will it go away? and if it is NOT normal should go back to the same place, they said to come back in for free touch ups. It looked REALLY clean during the first 4 or five days, and the place has a good rep. i just don't know what to do. thanks |

I'm assuming you're not doing goofy things to it in the meantime. You may be seeing some blow-out, you may not, I don't think it's possible to say definitely at this point just from your description. Is it possible to post a link to a good quality picture of the areas of concern? At any rate, do go back and see the artist and get their opinion once healing is finished. nj"an itch not to be scratched"m -- But I was looking for that great jazz note that destroyed the walls of Jericho. |

The tattoo artist can, at the very least, offer a reassuring word if appropriate. Something like, "Yep. Looks normal. Don't sweat it." I mean, what's the difference between the OP posting a pic *now* ("Is it possible to post a link to a good quality picture of the areas of concern?") and returning to the tattoo shop *now*? The former may solicit comment, but the latter will offer direct and immediate feedback from the artist. -- Curt |

Perhaps your tattooist knew something about his/her skills? When someone offers to correct a problem that hasn't happened, they may know something you don't. But as in anything else in life, you should go to the person who can potentially help you the most. Seriously, what could any of us do? The tattoo artist, that's another thing. And I doubt you would be the first worry-wart they've seen. I'd wait. You aren't fully healed, and until then, what can ANYONE do? Kavin |
