i hate how the disk looks as a single, though. i've never liked
how that piercing has looked at any gauge; the triple is the only thing
i've EVER liked & i REALLY like it. so that part's in. i'm thinking maybe
a 6ga eyelet instead of 4ga?

I don't think so. I think it may just have to do with it being near
the punch, but closer to the edge of the ear where it's easier to be
swelly and painful. It's getting slightly better every day and I am
sure we will be friends again soon.

That might be worth shopping up a look. I can understand your dislike
of the single disk, I don't know, it just looks a little out of place
or over there or lonely or something. But I find the threesome kind
of crowded feeling, but saints preserve me from discouraging
threesomes of any kind. ;-D

I can also see the dissatisfaction with the current helix, it doesn't
have enough oomph for things at the moment.
