I was talking to a friend about the good old days and RAB was brought
up; I spent a couple of years here back in the 90s and figured I'd stop by and see if it is up and still going. To those that are still around hello and to those that don't know me hello. -- DaVo piercing @ The Axiom http://axiompeircing.com |

Don't remember but you are the only person still active that I remembered. I want to say that you tolerated me. For some reason I remember us e-mailing back and forth on going to the RABcon when it was in Omaha. I didn't make it for one reason or another. At any rate, I remember always respecting you and your posts always being informative or whitty. I was really active then there was this big war between the trolls and the warm fuzzies. I left for a while and came back and it seemed that the trolls had won out. Even some of the warm fuzzies had turned into trolls at that point. It was Derik Lowe and the Grishs(not sure on the spelling and haven't seen them for years) that got me involved. This would have been around 98 and 99. He could really be an asshole sometimes but he was a lot of what this group was about. A kind of glue. I was shocked when I heard what had happened. The world was a more interesting place with him in it and I don't think he will be replaced anytime soon. I'll stick it out and try to swing in from time to time. It's really shocking there is so little activity. I remember when there was about 50 post an hour. I don't know if it has more to do with the lack of interest in Newsgroups or everyone ran out of things to talk/fight about? It seems there is a social network for just about everything today and sadly it seems like a more of a circle jerk then real interaction and exchanging of ideas. -- DaVo piercing @ the Axiom http://axiompiercing.com |

Yes I'm rebuilding the site right now. It was my first time working with a CMS site or Drupal. I really haven't done much to it in a couple of years. There are a number of Navigation problems and I have to say that I went nuts with the modules and features. One of the main problems was the category modules that caused all kind of problems. The rebuild is sitting at http://mirror.axiompiercing.com and should be mirgrated in a week or so. Then it's off to rebuild the Iowa underground archives next month. |

I think that has always been your excuse. Or you didn't know the specific code, etc. And that was my point. Keith didn't like the luke worms (someone please give me the reference). You either are or you aren't. I'd hate to hear your excuses as to why a piercing failed. Kavin |

Still a few links to be changed due to the url change but for the most part it is done. . Let's face it nothing was ever good enough for Keith. It was part of what he was. Always pushing, never satisfied. One of the reasons he tended to piss people off and came across as a troll but it showed his passion. The reason I respected him though is he did admit when he was wrong. Which he did a handful of times. That said, with axiompiercing.com it was more time then anything. I built it and then had to start on two other projects that quickly over took all my time. You can see it as you wish but it's not an excuse, it was the reality of the situation. Some of us are well balanced and have a life outside of the internet. We can't be online 24/7 and don't want to. We have families, friends, and businesses to run. There is never an exucse why a piercing failed. There is always a reason and most of the time there is a solution. Oh and by the way Keith would have given you got on you from not having the "--" before your signature. I have to ask, has this group turned into the let's talk about what Keith thought of you? It at one time was about bodyart. -- DaVo piercing @ the Axiom http://axiompiercing.com |

Are you baiting me to go into some kind of trollish war about Keith? What would be the point of that? He's gone, it's sad, it may suck, he maybe missed but the fact that I come back after, I don't know, 5 years and a majority of the threads seem to revolve around him in some way, is really sad. I didn't know him beyond what he posted here. I have to say that he was very helpful at times, usually in e-mails but I really don't think he would want this to go on and on. In fact there was a vibe at one point that he really just wanted RAB to die and he was doing everything he could to make that happen. I always felt that a lot of it was tongue to cheek. A way to entertain himself between piercing. I will never know nor do I really care. When I first came to RAB 10 years ago Keith was only a part of what made the group special. There was a number of people that posted as often and if not more and were really more interesting. Keith usually would post one line replies to just about every post on here. Others would take the time to answer questions, give their opinions and support. Maybe body art has become so mainstream that many of us have forgotten the days when only a handful of us knew others in our area that shared the interest. A time where information could only be found on the net and small publications like PFQI. To me that was the heart of RAB. It's been lost and may never come back. There are a lot of reasons for this and maybe it wasn't really that cool even back then. If this makes me come off as an igonrant redneck, then I'm happy to play the role. -- DaVo piercing @ the Axiom http://axiompiercing.com |
