"The ringleader allegedly stole checks from a former employer to fund
shopping trips and tattoos for himself and friends," said Antioch police Cmdr. Craig Somerville. /quote What're they gonna do, make 'em give the tattoos back??? D'OH! And I wonder what the tattoo is of... I STOLE THIS TATTOO! :o) Full story: Stolen checks used for shopping, tattoos By Frank Abderholden Living for today can have consequences tomorrow. An 18-year-old Trevor, Wis., man and his three accomplices will face some serious charges at the end of the month. The ringleader allegedly stole checks from a former employer to fund shopping trips and tattoos for himself and friends. "This was a case of just thinking about today and not considering the consequences of tomorrow," said Antioch police Cmdr. Craig Somerville, who was not only referring to ring leader Jeffrey Allen, but his accomplices Morgan Edwards, 17, of Lake Villa and Travis Daniels, 19, and Marlone Tumulak, 19, of Antioch. "He (Allen) held all the money. He would take them on shopping sprees and buy them tattoos," said Somerville. Police caught a break during the investigation when they called a Lindenhurst bank about stolen business checks being cashed there and while they were on the telephone a couple walked in and tried cashing one of those checks. The case began with a burglary of BCL Products at 834 Depot St. in Antioch on July 15 where someone pried open a window. But when the owner went through the plant he could not find anything missing. But at the end of the month the owner opened his bank statement and realized that someone was cashing checks. Seven checks were missing from the bottom of the company checkbook. The bank informed him and police that the checks were made out to ex-employee, Jeffrey Allen, who had worked at the manufacturing plant for about two weeks in the warehouse. Police began calling banks and when they were on the telephone with Capitol One in Lindenhurst a couple came in trying to cash one of the checks the police were asking about. Lindenhurst police went to the bank and arrested Morgan Edward and Travis Daniels. The apprehension of Tumulak and Allen followed and Somerville said Allen had to be convinced on the telephone to turn himself in. He already had a warrant out for his arrest from Gurnee for burglary and forgery. "He knew the game was over," said Somerville. Allen was charged with one count of burglary and two counts of forgery by Antioch police; Edwards, of the 25300 block of West Lincoln Street, was charged with two counts of forgery by Lindenhurst police; Daniels, of the 600 block of Main Street, was charged with one count of burglary and one count of forgery by Antioch; and Tumulak, also of the 600 block of Main, was charged with one count of burglary by Antioch. "Additional charges of forgery will be added down the road," said Somerville. The checks were cashed for a total of nearly $7,500. 08/11/06 From: http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/n...ERY_S10811.htm -- Curt http://curtjames.com/ |
