I have Multiple Sclerosis. I get IV Solumedrol every 3 months. I want to
get my nipples pierced. I have read that people on immune supressants are more prone to infections after a piercing. Solumedrol is not a heavy duty immune supressant like chemotherapy or other drugs like that. My steroids have never made me sick or a small exposure to a germ has not led to an illness. I got a PA 15 years ago before I was ever on steroids and had a much better time of it than other stories I have heard. Would my Solumedrol keep me from getting pierced? After reading RAB and occasionally posting to it after over 10 years my ISP is getting rid of its USENET server at the end of this month. I will miss all of you. Fred. |

I would speak to your doctor about this - whichever one runs the Solumdrol. I know that most aren't all that piercing friendly, but if you choose your words carefully you might get a considered opinion and possibly some assistance. People on immunosuppressives do end up getting elective/minor surgery, so it shouldn't be too hard to give some advice about your choice of timing, should you have some prophylactic treatment, etc. Or, for that matter, whether or not they think it completely ill-considered. >After reading RAB and occasionally posting to it after over 10 years my ISP >is getting rid of its USENET server at the end of this month. Also, keep in mind that there is always Google Groups if you want to keep in touch with the now sleepy RAB. And there are several usenet hosts-for-a-fee - I use Giganews. They don't have binaries, so I'll have to find another way to view the binary bodyart group. Fred. |
