What a sad sight.
The once great and powerful RAB is no more. Amazing what one disgusting tarbaby and the death of an icon (missing his insightful postings every day) can do to a newsgroup. This months top posters: 56 Curt James 48 KavinTaylor@gmail.com 41 next 7 posters Are we seeing a trend here? Let's all flog a dead horse, shall we? RAB is dead, long live the parasites on it's festering corpse. |

Even the really great groups are carried by a few regs and most of the talk is off topic. The easy way out is leaving Usenet altogether. Problem solved. Or we try "saving" our beloved NG. And that is always a possibility, providing that the trolling is reduced to a bare minimum... Just my 2 cents... -- Hans "Forty-two!" That trend being a continuing host of whiners and complainers who participate not but lament much. Hth. > Let's all flog a dead horse, More cliches. Wonderful! No, the newsgroup is not populated as it once was, but this should be no indication of death. > > RAB is dead, <snip> Your post and the corresponding replies show that to be false, however I agree that things have changed while taking no credit or blame for the current status of the ng. As always, I post and reply as I see fit. So, too, do others, apparently. I first posted in 1998 and took a nice three-year break during that time. Traffic has been slow, but this has, imo, no connection to my presence. > It happens to a lot of NG's... > Even the really great groups are carried by a few > regs and most of the talk is off topic. There are newsgroups that maintain high traffic even in the face of spamming and what some describe as trolling. Kavin recently visited one and was promptly ignored. > The easy way out is leaving Usenet altogether. Another easy way "out" is to ignore the things that bother you or simply ignore the things that hold no interest for you. > Problem solved. Again, problem solved. > Or we try "saving" our beloved NG. RAB doesn't need saving. Again, I don't believe that my presence here has held a negative influence over the ng. People naturally lose interest in things. Other things take over. Online and in real life. It happens. Live Journal, MySpace, IAM, and any number of other activities. > And that is always a possibility, providing > that the trolling is reduced to a bare minimum... > Just my 2 cents... Not bad advice, however Kavin is holding a nice Thanksgiving conversation which seems to be continuing. And, yes, he's also posting items to gain my attention. Is that trolling? I say it's scribbling. Some of it's amusing. Mao much? Some of it's an attempt at being rude. The uncle comments. But it all reflects on him, imo. > Hans And that's my two cents. :o) I hope you're enjoying your November. Year's end is almost here! -- Curt http://curtjames.com/ |
