Hi all,
I have a bump beside the jewelry (barbell stud) on my nose. At this point I'd say it's one of those hyper-whachama-gooby scars. It isn't dark and it isn't sprouting arms so I don't think it's a keloid. I'm not freaking out. I'm breathing and I'm being calm. Doctor says --> take it out immediately, if you don't take it out it'll continue to irritate and the bump will get bigger and then we'll have to do surgery to remove it or people will make fun of you on the street. (No he doesn't say that but you can tell he's thinking it.) Online FAQ's say different things --> chamomile tea, tea tree oil, vitamin E oil, salt soaks, standing on my head wearing men's underwear, etc. Lish FAQ says --> I'm stressing it and it's reacting, stop stressing it dumbass, H202 soaks, and if I wasn't invited get the hell out of her website. I go with Lish. Two days I soak the bump off and on in H202 and I notice it's beginning to eat a small hole in the top of it. Well, at least this is a change. Was it supposed to eat a small hole in my bump? Then I go in for a scheduled control with my piercer. Piercer says --> It's normal, put some scar-reducing cream on it (Contratubex) and see him again in 14 days. It's a normal part of the healing process and my piercing is only 14 days old so it'll probably go away on its own even if I don't do anything. He measures the jewelry, says the jewelry is long enough, no problem there. Just cream it, keep it clean, and leave it alone. Shouldn't I change the jewelry to reduce the chance of stress to the area? Shouldn't I use H202 like Lish says? No, he says. He's so tiny and cute I have to do what he says I just want to pick him up and squeeze him and put him in my pocket. Okay, that's it. I don't know what to do. Someone please come cuss me and tell me what to do. I want the bump to be gone and my beautiful piercing to sparkle like the sun for many years to come. (An aside: when I walk into my piercer's studio the owner and his wife are there and first they ignore me and then they look at me as if to say what the f*ck do you want, asshole? And I have to smile to myself as I think - Wow, just like r.a.b.!) Yours truly, The Cunt Nugget |

It's possible that while you are cleaning the piercing, you are causing aggravation. A nose hair could also be irritating the piercing. H2O2 on a healing piercing is bad news. You are not healed. That could be causing more problems. If you are using makeup, you could be causing the problem. Basically, YOU are causing he problem. Relax. Let yourself heal. Kavin |

I asked about the jewelry before the piercing and all I remember for sure was that it isn't surgical steel and contains no nickel. If SS could fall into that category it may be. I'm assuming SS = Stainless Steel? and Ti = Titanium? If SS is Surgical Steel then forget this part. Sheesh, I'm embarrassing the hell out of myself. Someone just gag me please. |

Then you'll have to employ http://www.fuckingsatanit.com or http://www.fuckingbackdoor it.com and well, that gets tricky if you don't have the skillz or a mole. http://www.fuckingyahooit.com is unproven to me as yet and I don't really want to hop on the fad bandwagon. or if you want to go with the biggest banana I've heard http://www.fuckingmonstercrawlerit.com is helpful. |

I got that part. I did research on and offline. It was inconclusive and I wanted more opinion. |

I had the beginnings for two days, but solid beginnings no doubt about that. A full-fledged ugly bump forming on the outside of my piercing. Two days later, 5 min. soaks with H2O2 produced the hole. Three days later it sorta imploded and sloughed away. All looks just like it should now. Amazing. Thanks a bunch. > L> Shouldn't I use H202 like Lish says? No, he says. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't understand me. He's very careful otherwise. I go in and he whips out measuring equipment and checks everything, asks the right questions. I've got to learn how to communicate with him better. Until then I've got the collective wisdom of r.a.b., and thank goodness. |

In the FAQ that was just released surgical steel is referred to as SSS, and I don't remember if Ti was mentioned. I'm not getting defensive over this, I know I read quite a bit and I'm still reading. You don't want to answer, don't. You want to heckle me, have fun. |
