OK, i've decided to get my labret pierced and oddly enough am having a
bity of anxiaty about it. This is strange since i didn't think my nipple was that bad and ASSUME the labret wouldbe a bit less painfull. I keep reading these comments about how horibly painfull labrets are but have yet to read any relavent comparison between them and other piercings). Can anyone put my mind at ease or am i really just screwed since i'm doing it anyway even if it's the worst of'em all:) |

We've heard rumors of several people dying from the pain. One person posted they passed out and even one went into a coma that lasted for six weeks. I wouldn't do it. Kavin |

Especially in relation to pain or the fear of pain, right? All my piercings have been about the same, painwise, actually. A sharp pain that quickly faded. > I keep reading these comments about how horibly > painfull labrets are I suspect that individual pain tolerance varies a good bit. Perhaps those comments you've been reading have been from people with a low tolerance to pain. > but have yet to read any relavent comparison between > them and other piercings). I've had nipples, frenum, cartilage, conch, lobes, navel, septum, etc. pierced. I've also had my lobes dermal punched. The labret I've had pierced twice and it was about the same or even less painful than those aforementioned piercings - from my perspective. Again, individual pain tolerance, I'm guessing, would be a variable that may change or differ from your perspective. > Can anyone put my mind at ease Maybe. Did those words offer you any reassurance? The only thing that can truly put your mind at ease would be your mind. :o) Or actually getting the piercing and experiencing it yourself, of course. > or am i really just screwed Naaah. Not at all. > since i'm doing it anyway even if it's the worst of'em all:) It's not the worst, imo. Quick and relatively pain-free. Enjoy. -- Curt |

If your piercer cannot do the piercing straight on (that is, entry and exit hole should be on the same plane), go someplace else. If you cannot afford to replace the bar in two or so weeks, do not get the piercing. Remember, this is something you want to do. By calling it pain, you've already set it in your mind. That's too bad. But it's over in less than a second. Endure. Kavin Be wary of taking advice from someone incapable of truly healing a piercing. Part of the pain (and that really is not a good word to use) is healing the piercing. Getting a hole put in you "for the experience" is not the same as healing a piercing. And for some, doing it for the experience is an excuse for the inability to follow through with the process. |
