Default Keloid or irritation?

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I kind of trawled the Google
groups and couldn't find anything that matched.

Ok, here's the bad bit, I re-pierced my own ear (well, half repierced it as
the first time was with a gun and so it was diagonally through the ear),
though I did sterilise all of the equipment.

It did a normal pierced ear gunky thing for the first weekish - but has now
stopped with the gunk.

The problem is that I noticed a bump on the back of my ear, asked my partner
to look (as I can't see it properly) , he said it looked like my ear had
"collapsed" around the piercing, and attempting to describe it myself I
would say it looked like a semi circular lump around the hole and maybe
1-2mm around the piercing dipping back in before the centre which was a bit
red. I phoned NHS Direct (nurses over the phone for those in the US), they
said it just sounded like it was healing and it was all ok. I wasn't
convinced.

My mum who trained to be a nurse said it looked almost like my ear was
trying to heal over the butterfly back.
At this point I had the back off so I could see it and realised (yes, this
makes me stupid!) that it was not the 18carrot gold back that came with the
earring I had been using. It was big and took up a lot of the pin so I guess
it was being pushed against my ear all the time (I did have to loosen it a
lot).

So now I have the smaller back on and everything is going well, the piercing
is continuing to be crustie free and the lump has reduced.
So what I need to know is if you think it is a Keloid or just an irritation,
and if I need to do anything to it to make it go.

Thanks a bunch, didn't want to skip anything important so that's why it
seems like it's my life story.

Ceri :o)

All Due respect but I did look at that first, and then when I couldn't find
anything on the deja/google groups I asked here.

I can't work out which it is likely to be and since I don't really want to
go splashing hydrogen peroxide on an inflamation.

Did you have to be so patronising with your post, I described how it had
looked and that it seemed to be going down a little now, is it that
unreasonable to request some form of expertiese so I do not go applying a
caustic substance to something which could just be inflamed skin??

Thanks very much! :oP

Ok, So I'm not actually going to go putting HP on my ear as I'm from the
LIMA School, but I may apply tea tree.

A bit sensitive, eh? Posting an informative link is not what I
consider patronizing. Ymm(obviously)v.

And have you consulted with a dermatologist?

i specify the answer to your question in my text. did you read it?

ps, the following negates your "all due respect" bit:

i'm not your fucking doctor & you're not paying for my advice. if
you don't like what i told you, then keep your stupid trap shut & go
somewhere else. alternatively, paypal me my usual hourly rate & i'll be
more than happy to walk you through every fucking diagnostic step & every
fucking known cure in personal email just for you.

Ok, I appologise for this, that'll teach me for reading usenet before my
first coffee of the day.
What happened was that I "thought" I had said that I had read the healing
FAQ, when in fact I didn't say that at all, I also cannot read the text you
must have written for some reason... I have no idea why.
I again appologise.

Ok, as I have said I appologise and am in the wrong.
I just hope I regain a little respect for replying rather than sloping off
into the shadows, I have felt like it after being called stupid and somebody
else telling me he hopes my ear falls off.

That was actually meant as a friendly gesture but it obviously seems
sarcastic, I again appologise.

right. you're supposed to follow the link. & you said you read it,
which apparently was a misstatement on your part.

i do respect spine & being able to admit fault.

accepted.

the text is available & is in ascii; you should have no problem
reading it with any web browser. try again.

not slinking away, not responding with "fuck you, you don't know
anything", admitting fault & apologizing all are good things & earn you
credit here.

CJ> That was actually meant as a friendly gesture but it obviously seems
CJ> sarcastic, I again appologise.

that's fine, we're over it now. find a way to read my text, then
ask followup questions which i haven't already addressed & i'll be glad to
help further.

Thanks, I thought I was missing something, I did read it, and maybe through
stupidity on my part I still could not tell what it was.
however, it has now reduced to a point where I can barely feel it so I don't
suppose it matters.
Thanks for everything else you said about spines, I would not say you didn't
know what you were talking about as you obviously do (I looked at your
dermal punch pictures, very impressive *smiles*).

Kick away :oP I only used a *smiles* was because I don't like using a smile
emoticon at the end of brackets, I find it visually messy.
I must say that I have never felt the urge to physically attack anyone
because of their choice of written text, obviously, each to their own.
why does my typing vex you so much that you must concur with calling me a
bitch... don't get me wrong, I'm not uspset by it but rather fasinated by
the psycholgy.
