Folks,
Since it's been so quiet here lately I thought I'd grace UPB with some ink-work currently in progress....... I've had an angel on my right forearm "re-worked". I originally got it done a couple of years ago as a tribute piece just after my mum died. As time went by I gradually became less satisfied with the work that had originally been done. I still liked the piece but I began to realise that it should have been done so much better in the first place and in order to work on getting sleeved out I knew it would need something doing to it. I was a "regular" at Bodycraft in Nottingham (excellent studio by the way with some excellent artists working there) because my girlfriend is getting work done there every couple of weeks or so and got chatting to Aaron (the friendly Irish chap) about things. Over the last month or two, and 5 hours worth of work, the sleeve is slowly evolving into something I'm happy with again - and a zillion times better than it previously was. The angel itself isn't entirely finished yet but it's more or less there. See for yourself: Original piece - http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/3694/angelarmoriginalrr5.jpg After session 1 - http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6229/angelarmreworksession1pic1op3.jpg After session 2 - http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/9074/angelarmreworksession2ba6.jpg After session 3 - http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/6601/angelarmreworksession3dd6.jpg Next appointment is booked for a week on Sunday. Feels kinda strange at the moment - one side of my arm is now looking pretty well covered in ink but as soon as I lift up the arm and look underneath it's more or less blank...... will have to work on that one! ;o) Is nobody else in the process of getting inked / pierced at the moment?! Cheers, Rusty. |

At the moment there's just the outline and a little bit of grey shading but not enough to write home about. I've got two sessions booked in September to get the rest of the outline done which will take it round the entirety of my left leg from the bottom of my kneecap down to my ankle. The artist reckons it'll look better in black and grey but I'm a traditionalist and like a bit of colour. We'll have to see how it pans out. I've had four hours done on it, four next month and then the shading/colouring begins so I reckon it'll be a year and a thousand pounds in the making! |

> The artist reckons it'll look better in black and grey but I'm a > traditionalist and like a bit of colour. I have to admit, I'd be inclined to stick with the greyscale if it were me. On the other hand it could look amazing if you can get some really bright crisp colouring in there - a la Unformats colours. Tough call, but I'd be nervous about losing stunning black work with potentially mediocre colouring. > We'll have to see how it pans > out. I've never had a complete piece done in B&G before. There was a piece in Tattoo Now that looked very similar to the piece I've got with a kind of Tibettan forest surrounding the Buddah with him sitting in the middle. This is all done in colour and looks awesome on the page but I have to admit that the artist I'm using for this excels in the black and grey stuff. We'll have to wait and see. > > We'll have to see how it pans > > out. It's not like I didn't want to get one, I just couldn't be arsed/didn't have time. While it's good for the likes of the honest (like me, Guv), it does on first inspection seem remarkably easy for any old Tom, Dick or Harry to get their hands on one! I'm going to register and get one. Do I need the short or full certificate for a passport? |

> Not sure what Unfdormats colours is/are but you're right. this might work: http://www.bmeworld.com/unformat/ but I can't tell as the proxy here blocks BME sites. typing "unformat tattoo" into google images however produces a whole bunch of images I'm not sure I wanted to see from the office! > Maybe just a hint.. We'll have to wait and see. are you planning a background? I was just thinking about the trees example above and wondering how it would look with blackwork subject and coloured background/surrounds. It is that simple and has been for many years. > I'm going to register and get one. Good man. > Do I need the short or full certificate for a passport? I'm sure the site will tell you. if not the passport website will. JFGI. -- Dnc |

Also, there's the option of having it all done in black and grey and having some coloured highlights put in, kind of accent colours. [Passport] > > I'm going to register and get one. > > Good man. > > > Do I need the short or full certificate for a passport? > > I'm sure the site will tell you. if not the passport website will. > JFGI. It is done. I did it yesterday and ordered priority so it should be here tomorrow! |
